A need for me time

There may be some of you out there who like me are bracing themselves for the onslaught of the GCSEs.

It is well documented the anxiety women feel when they reach the menopause and despite, up until now, not having suffered such symptoms, I have found in recent weeks the stressometer in our house has begun to climb and there is now stress radiating about the level of stress to be expected as the weeks progress.

In order to counteract the negative vibes, my thoughts move to holidays and it was with interest that I found, aside from the typical go to offerings of package holidays, cruises and holidays geared to the over 50’s, that there are now some fantastic custom made holidays for women suffering through the menopause .

One of the best things you can do when going through this phase of our lives is to simply take some time out just to focus on ourselves, and how better than to experience a menopause retreat that will help to tackle the symptoms as well as providing a much needed break.

There is help out there. Here are 2 which we see as excellent. It really does come down to one’s personal preference which holiday suits

Healing Holidays offer a wide scope of “custom made “ holidays and one that took my eye amongst others was The Sha Wellness Clinic in Spain which has a programme designed to help women and give them the support they need to cope with the changes that occur in their lives. Boosting their health and confidence with an intense programme designed to address poor sleep patterns, mood swings, weight gain, hot flushes and hormone imbalances. SHA looks to minimise these effects and help manage the changes with positivity.

The choices out there are amazing.  Now all I need to do is refrain for getting stressed at the thought that I have a long time before I can consider such luxuries. However, while we may have to wait and save for such luxurious options, in the meantime we can do our own mini home package with a few simple tips including a good night’s sleep so, declutter that bedroom and get some solace and peace. Take time to prepare good healthy food to energise your body and mind. Stretch your legs with an invigorating walk to feed the soul with positivity and make sure those around you give YOU the time you need.

With a little bit of self- indulgence a home retreat may just be possible…………I’ll give it a go, at least until July.
